ARTIST BIO

My art is the product of many years ot practice and problem solving. Nature study lends itself to boundless discovery of new spaces and opportunities bringing the often overlooked to the fore...

Waterlilies have been painted by many and are often looked upon as the epitome of impressionistic flower painting.  In my latest work 'Lone waterlily", what drew me to painting this scene were the shadows of the reeds runing across the leaves.  To me, the geometric interplay of the lines and curves was the interest I wanted to convey.  The presence of the yellow waterlily merely set the scene I thought.  To be truthful, I had trouble naming the painting when I finished it.  Who would be interested to view something called 'Lines and Curves" or "Long Shadows"??  As it turned out, a waterlily still has its magical dominance in any composition, whether intended or not.  Lone Waterlily seems fitting afterall.

I just posted 'Dusk'.  I'll have more to say about this later ... (this is later) using oil paints to convey the serenity of this scene was a rather bold attempt and I am satisfied of how this painting turned out.  Again, lines intercepting curves provided interest and rendered this corner of the pond refreshing uniqueness.
