ARTIST BIO

"Art is my life support, without it I’m not me,” Tracey Emin. Karen Ghosn is a visual artist born in Aotearoa (NZ) and living in Narrm (Melbourne). Her cubism style is influenced by Picasso. Karen is influenced by Kurt Schwitters use of colour and texture. She produces work in mixed media, assemblage, collagraph printing, monotype and collage printing. Karen explores the consequences of intergenerational family violence using line and shape to create conflict and tension. Growing up in a violent environment gives a depth of understanding that is evident in her work. Karen also greatly influenced by Tracey Emin and takes the strength of Emin’s work as inspiration to explore the shame and silence of women and children who have been abused.
