ARTIST NOTES: Campfire Embers & Ash by Rosemary Legat - Selecting a limited colour palette of Australian Salmon Gum, Australian Sienna and Paynes Grey I started to simultaneously apply my acrylic paint (experimenting with different amounts of water ) to my two paper sheets adding white along the way but keeping to my original selected colours while building my layers. Before my eyes I found my striking layered composition and colours rather mesmerising, conjuring up thoughts of bush camp fires of my youth......radiating light and warmth in our camp site in the cool evenings. 'Our campfire appeared to echo the starlight, as if the flames so close and so distant had so much to say to one another - by Angela Abraham' This intriguing duo looks cohesive in their colour, design and feel when hung near each other, whether that is hung above each other or side by side. The orientation choice would be yours. As both require framing to hang, my artwork images includes examples of how this unique duo could look framed and hung. Both signed on the front.  Letter of authenticity provided. Dimensions: Both are 58.5cm (W) x 42.5cm (H) Please check artwork dimensions, in situ images for display purposes only and may not be to scale. Note: Artwork sprayed with a little fixative spray and spray varnish for protection.

ARTIST BIO

Rosemary’s artistic journey is a delightful adventure that showcases the power of creativity. From a young age, she found joy in artistic pursuits, but it wasn’t until her retirement, amid the quiet of countless covid lockdowns, that she truly reconnected with her passion for art.

With an eclectic style that celebrates whimsy, Rosemary’s paintings are a vibrant reflection of her playful spirit. Rather than sticking to a rigid plan, she lets her creativity flow, allowing each piece to reveal itself organically. As she layers colors and textures, her work takes on a life of its own, resulting in captivating pieces that invite viewers into her imaginative world.
Originally working solely with acrylics on canvas, Rosemary has since embraced an exciting variety of materials. Now, her mixed media artworks bring together paint, ink, soft pastels, oil sticks, and collage, transforming her creations into multidimensional expressions of her vision.
At the heart of Rosemary’s art is a simple yet powerful motivation: it makes her happy! The joy she feels while painting shines through in every piece she creates, and sharing that joy with others has ignited her passion even further. With numerous pieces sold and a growing audience, Rosemary is driven to continue creating and sharing her artwork, ensuring that her vibrant imagination remains a central part of her life for years to come.
